Western Isles Countryside Access Forum

Beach in Harris
Section 25 of the The Land Reform ( Scotland) Act 2003 requires each local authority in Scotland to establish Local Access Forums to provide advice on local access issues. The Western Isles Countryside Access Forum was formed in 2003.

The Forum meets three times a year and meetings are spread geographically throughout the Western Isles. The Forum encourages participation and consults with the public wherever possible.

Membership of the Forum reflects the wide range of organisations and individuals with an interest in access to the countryside, and includes representatives of agencies, regional representatives and special interest groups. The membership list is shown below. Other organisations or individuals may be co-opted onto the Forum as necessary. Regional representatives are nominated by community organisations that already have an interest in access issues in their area.

Comhairle nan Eilean Siar provides secretariat support for the Forum and the Comhairle’s Countryside Access Officer provides specialist advice . If you would like to contact the Forum regarding an access related issue click here.
