Activity Diary
It’s almost impossible to open a newspaper or watch a T.V. news bulletin without hearing how our children are becoming less active and the dangers of childhood obesity.
It is crucial that all of us work together to encourage young people to think about their activity levels; as part of this process, the Active Schools team have prepared an Activity Diary. All pupils in P4 – P7 have been provided with a personal Activity Diary to record their daily activity over a four week period. A point is awarded for every 15 minutes of activity and also a point is given for each portion of fruit and vegetables eaten each day.
The aim of the project is to encourage young people to reach the national target of one hour per day of physical activity on five or more days of the week and to help them to make the links between activity and nutrition in a positive way.
The Activity Diary has been prepared in English and Gaelic and will operate up until the October 2006 half term break.
