Dance 2 : Music: Grease Medley

 

  1. Start: Facing the back, heads down, arms by sides. Fingers pointing to the floor.
  2. On ‘automatic’: All put right hand up to right side, on systematic:  put left hand up to left side, on hydromatic: bring hands down to your sides and put hands over face (finger tips together).
  3. On ‘why it’s Grease lightening: hands out from face, turn to face the front and arms out to sides of body (i.e straight arms horizontally)
  4. Then straight into cross over steps and swinging arms and clicking fingers. Right leg crosses left, left crosses right then 1-2 to the centre and swing arms and click to each side (if possible). 15/16 beats
  5. On the word ‘chills’ go to partner on left/right depending, bounce together on 2 feet and then both partners kick to their right then their left and repeat. 8 beats.
  6. Twist under partner’s arm, meet next person in the middle and take each other’s arm and spin round 4 beats. Everyone else claps x 4
  7. Go to person on the other side directly opposite from original partner and repeat 5. 8 beats.
  8. If there are 2 spare people in a line of 2 instead of 4, onelectrifying’ they slide through the space between each girl.
  9. Shake hips until next motif.
  10. On ‘shape up’ 1 step forward with left foot, swing arms and raise right knee, step back on foot of raised knee 8 beats
  11.  And my heart is set on you. Right arm out in front crawl action, repeat with left arm, join arms together (linking fingers together and jump backwards x2 as hands push forwards. 4 beats
  12. On you better shape up, turn right first, turn to the back and round and shimmy down. 180 degree turns each time. i.e complete a full circles 8 beats. Touch heart and jazz hands round.
  13. Or go into boy/girl partners and face each other. Boy takes 4 steps to the left for 2 beats and girl shakes hips to the right once, then faces the other direction and repeats, back to face partner and away to the wall.
  14. To my heart I must be true: Both partners facing the wall and shimmy up and down while bringing hands round to the side. 10 beats
  15. Girl jumps round to face partner for ‘You’re the one that I want’ section. Boys jump 180 degrees to face their girl partner.  4 walks/beats in towards partner. Hand out pointing to the boy: On Ooo Ooo Ooo: 3 hip shakes right left, right 4th count-honey: hands to face and blow a kiss, 1 foot up. Partner does the same and repeat once. (3 times in total: 1st person does it 2 x and 2nd person 1 x). Other person stands with arms folded.
  16. Back into rows and stomp once with music, clap once with music and positions for Grease lightening. Look up to the right. 4 beats
  17. Grease lightening move from left to right; pointing with right hand, right foot tapping. (x3) with a stomp with feet shoulder width apart and a clap in between the moves.
  18. Girls clap in a circle right to left as their partner stands behind them and claps left to right. Repeat the other way and final time.
  19. Summer Loving Section: Pupils into groups and make up their own steps with help if needed and put these steps back into the dance.

 

* If pupils can’t come up with next section themselves: make it teacher led. See below:

Split group into 2 smaller groups and 1 person from each group falls back into a basket made by linking the arms of the other pupils.

‘Boys’ then come to the front and click to either side with the girls.

2 beats after ‘blast’ girls do front-crawl like move so hands become joined and then jump back 4 times. If possible, someone does a round off with a jump right to left and then left to right.

‘Summer loving happens so fast’: Do running action with arms while shimmying down.

Copy video here and do a ‘crazy’ action shaking hips on the way down.
On ‘Met a boy cute as can be’: turn to each other in partners with hands on chin and 1 foot up.

‘Summer days drifted away’: Hands to the side to ‘uh’ oh the summer nights:  On ‘uh’: jump up and clap.

‘Wulla Wulla Wulla Oooo!’: Touch knees together and on ‘oooh’ 2 elbows out to the side.

‘Tell me more, tell me more’: Right elbow out x2, left elbow out x2
On ‘Did you get very far’: Run backwards shaking fingers towards body.

Tell me more, tell me more: Jazz hands (2 x to the right and 2 x to the left)
Like does he have a car’: Pretend to drive a car while on ‘uh huh’ ‘uh huh’: move arms as if driving and shake hips.

‘She swam by me, she got a cramp’: Pretend to do the breast stroke and hug yourself as if you have cramp and fall to the ground. Boys curl up on the ground in leap frog position.

‘She swam by me got my suit damp’: Girls only come up slowly shaking shoulders.

‘I saved her life, she nearly drowned’: Leap frog over boy curled up in front and girls hold chin in hands while ‘splashing’/kicking legs.

On ‘summer’: boys pull the girls up who jump up and clap on ‘uh’ jump and clap.

On wulla wulla wulla oooh: Touch knees together and on ‘ooooh’ elbows out to the sides. Hand jive x 2 to the right, hand jive x 2 to the left, jazz hands x 2 to the right, hand jive x 2 to the left.

On did she put up a fight’: All back to back with a partner in Charlie’s Angels position.

 

If you want to continue the dance: During the line: ‘It turned colder… love vows’everyone walks back into a group: all girls link arms on right and boys elbows to shoulders on left. Walk backwards and bump into each other. Into a line holding hands, arms up to finish and then drop hands, heads down.
