THE HANDY 240

- The reader is a hand held scanning device fitted with green and red indicators which light up to indicate the age group of the card holder.
- The Handy 240 Reader can be set up to automatically scan Young Person's Entitlement Cards.
- The reader’s green light comes on if a card is approved or the red light comes on if the card is rejected.
- The reader can be configured for pre-set age groups such as 16 and over or 18 and over.
- Cards can be read from up to 5 cm from the reader.

- Information is not only printed on the card but is also held on a micro chip embedded in the card. This allows the card to be quickly scanned by a card reader.
- The card can be used as an ID card as it carries a photo as well as the name and date of birth of the card owner.
- The card also entitles the holder to a range of other benefits including discounts in participating retail outlets.
- The Young Person's Entitlement Card is available to teenagers and young adults throughout Scotland.

Hand Held Readers are available through The Community Safety Partnership Proof of Age Pilot Scheme to selected outlets at the discounted price of £25.
