WIAREP Press Conference |
11 March 2003 |
|
The Renewable Energy Conference being held in the Western Isles from the 19th to the 21st March is breaking new technological ground in the islands. It is the first worldwide webcast of a live event from the Western Isles. Conference proceedings will be broadcast live on the Wednesday evening, Thursday all day and Friday morning. Lews Castle College have organised the webcast. WIAREP Chairman David Currie said: Modern technology means that we can reach out to a world wide audience and I am delighted that WIAREP is pioneering this. By necessity we have had to limit numbers attending the conference although there is also the Community Event taking place in Stornoway Town Hall. However, the webcast means that everyone is able to watch the Conference and hear the addresses. Anyone who doesnt have access to a PC can watch proceedings at one of the five viewing centres at the Further Education Centres in Ness, Harris, the Uists, Barra or in Stornoway Town Hall. I would also remind people that they can submit questions to be discussed at the Conference via the Bulletin Board at www.cne-siar.gov.uk/wiarep" Over 120 delegates will attend the Conference which runs over
three days whilst many people are also expected to attend the
Community Event taking place on the Thursday and Friday. ENDS Keep up to date with event news at www.cne-siar.gov.uk/wiarep. |
