3. The 2003 Western Isles SAM and Employment matrix
3.1 Table 3.1 presents the final balanced SAM for the Western Isles economy in 1997, and Table 3.2 the balanced employment matrix. These provide the basis for generating a number of alternative indicators of the performance of the Western Isles economy as described in the following chapter.
