Precautionary Inspection Of Fire Fronts
Hebridean Housing Partnership (HHP) is to inspect tenants’ Charnwood fire fronts throughout the Western Isles as a precautionary measure following one isolated complaint about an installation which may have been incorrectly carried out.
Now all houses which have had similar fire fronts installed will be inspected. The assessment only applies to solid fuel fronts, not gas, electric or open fireplaces.
The one complaint received has been referred to Comhairle nan Eilean Siar’s insurers as the fire front was installed by the Comhairle before stock transfer to HHP took place.
Tony Pendle, Director of Operations at HHP, said;
“We do not believe there is a major problem here but the safety of tenants and their peace of mind is our primary consideration. We are therefore going to assess all houses which have had these fire fronts installed. If incorrect installations have been carried out we will take the necessary remedial action.
If any tenant has concerns about a fireplace which has been installed they should contact HHP” on Tel No. 0845 6039180.
