28-10-2005
The tenants of Comhairle Nan Eilean Siar have voted to transfer their homes to Hebridean Housing Partnership.
| Yes | No | Turnout |
|---|---|---|
| 69% | 31% | 66.3% |
Speaking at the ballot announcement this afternoon George Lonie, the Chair of HHP said "We are delighted with the decision by tenants to back our plans. This result is the culmination of many months hard work by everyone on the HHP team, but it is only the start of the hard work. Our attention will now turn to delivering on our promises, working with tenants to modernise existing homes, deliver improved housing services and perhaps most importantly build much-needed new social housing to benefit communities throughout the Western Isles. I would like to thank the tenants for giving us their support in the ballot and I would also like to thank the HHP staff who have worked so hard over a long period of time to develop the Business Plan and proposals."
Angus Lamont, Chief Executive (Designate) of HHP, stated "I would like to express my gratitude to the Comhairle's tenants for voting for HHP is such large numbers. HHP's challenge now is to deliver the commitments outlined in our Business Plan and fulfill our vision which is 'to provide good quality and affordable homes and to secure consistently excellent hosing services throughout our islands'"
