Audio Visual Services
An exciting range of audio visual material may be borrowed from
the library:
An extensive choice of popular, classical, Scottish and Gaelic
music is available on compact disc.
A charge of £0.75 per single disc or £1.10 per set is made.
An equally wide selection of music is available free of charge
on audio cassette.

Many popular works of fiction are available on cassette. There
is a wide variety to choose from with titles by authors such as
Catherine Cookson, Jilly Cooper, Colin Dexter, Dick Francis, Ed
McBain, Patrick O'Brian, Ellis Peters, Douglas Reeman and Ruth
Rendell. Classic authors have not been forgotten and works by
Jane Austen, George Eliot, Thomas Hardy and Anthony Trollope are
included.
A wide range of children's fiction from favourite classics to
football, ghost and animal stories is available for loan. There
is something to appeal to all ages from John Cunliffe's Postman
Pat for under-fives to J R R Tolkein's The Hobbit for
older children. Book and cassette packs are also in stock.
There is no charge for borrowing these items, but please take
great care as loss or damage to one cassette may result in payment
for replacement of the full set being required.
All the above material can be borrowed using your library card
and up to six items may be taken out for three weeks at any one
time.

From silent classics such as Buster Keaton's The General
to modern blockbusters like Titanic a broad range of feature
films may be rented.
Programmes on history, travel, sport, natural history, leisure
interests and many other subjects are also available.
A registration fee of £1 must be paid before videos can be borrowed.
Two items may be rented for up to one week at any time. The hire
charge is £2 per week for single films, £3 per boxed set and £1
for children's videos.
Some religious and public information videos are available free
of charge.
If videos are kept beyond the due date a charge of £0.50
per day will be made, to a maximum of £5.00 per video.
If a video or its case is lost or damaged a replacment charge
may be made.
covering Gaelic, the major European and several other languages
are available.
The loan period for these is eight weeks and no charge is made
for borrowing them.
RESERVATIONS for any audio visual material stocked by the library
can be taken, but it is not possible to request items not already
in stock. A small charge is made for placing requests.
All items are lent on the understanding that they are for personal
use only. It is illegal to copy any audio visual material. Sound
recordings are not allowed to be lent until three months after
their release.
