Loch Stiapabhat Local Nature Reserve
Local Places
Eoropie - Play park for the kids and amazing beach for walks & wading birds.
Butt of Lewis - In summer the cliffs around the lighthouse abound with fulmars, shags & gulls. Out to sea, watch for passing seabirds and perhaps even whales and other sea-mammals.
St Moluadh’s Church - Thought to date back to the 12th century and was restored in 1912. It was one of four places of holy pilgrimage in Scotland for the cure of insanity.
Dun Eistean - An island fort, the ancestral home of the Morrison clan, which can still be seen. Arctic terns breed around here.
Port of Ness - A pleasant beach walk. Gannets & terns dive for fish here in the summer, while auks & kittiwakes breed along the cliffs to the north.
Ness Historical Society - This local museum has a vast archive of documents, photographs and film as well as many interesting artefacts.
