It was agreed that public, including the press, be excluded from the meeting during consideration of the following item, on the grounds that exempt information in terms of Schedule 7A of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 as defined in Standing Order 26(a) would be disclosed, namely, information relating to a particular employee. former employee or applicant to become an employee of, or a particular officer holder, former officer holder or an applicant to become an office holder under the Comhairle.

Appointment of Director for Sustainable Communities

The report of applications received for the post of Director for Sustainable Communities was submitted and noted, together with the job advertisement, job description and person specification for the post.

The Comhairle proceeded to interview the following candidates:

Mr Nigel P Devlin

Mr Ian D Gillian

Mr J Munro Gold

Mr William Houston

Mr Derek R McKim

After the interviews and a full discussion of the merits of the candidate, it was agreed to offer the post of Director for Sustainable Communities to Mr J Munro Gold on the basis of immediate acceptance of the offer.

Mr Gold was invited into the meeting and formally offered the post of Director for Sustainable Communities on the basis of immediate acceptance of the offer.

Mr Gold indicated his acceptance of the offer.
