		LEGISLATION
Boundary Commission Submission – Comhairle Concluded View	1	The Director of Corporate Services submitted a Report requesting that the Comhairle form an “Initial Concluded View” for submission to the Local Government Boundary Commission for Scotland in relation to Stage 1 of the review process.  The Report stated that the Comhairle’s “initial concluded view” required to be submitted by 7 December 2004.  A draft letter was appended to the Report. It was agreed: (1)        to adjourn the meeting to 2.30pm on Tuesday 7 December 2004; and (2)        that the Director of Corporate Services be requested to obtain clarification from the Local Government Boundary Commission for Scotland in relation to whether the Comhairle would be permitted to submit an annotated map showing any proposals that the Comhairle may have in relation to wards following consideration of any such proposals by the Policy and Resources Committee and Comhairle on 16 December 2004. The meeting was adjourned at 7.55pm on Monday 6 December 2004.

		The Head of Legal and Democratic Services stated that the secretariat of the Local Government Boundary Commission for Scotland had confirmed by telephone that, provided that a letter was received from the Comhairle on 7 December 2004, a supplementary map with annotations could be submitted on 17 December 2004 following consideration by Policy and Resources Committee and Comhairle on 16 December 2004.  The attention of Members was drawn to a revised draft letter which had been circulated to Members.
		It was agreed that: (1)        the said letter would be submitted to the Local Government Boundary Commission for Scotland subject to the second heading being amended to read “Identifiable Boundaries and Local Ties”; and (2)        the Director of Corporate Services would submit a Report to the meetings of Policy and Resources Committee and Comhairle on 16 December 2004 and that the Reports would incorporate maps showing a range of options for amalgamated words.
