Tribute

On behalf of the Comhairle, the Chairman extended thanks to the Members of the Stornoway Amenity Trust who had made the arrangements for Christmas decorations and lighting in Stornoway and to the employees of the Comhairle who had been involved in installing the lights and decorations.

The Chairman intimated that Mr Donald Macdonald, Member for the Harris East Ward, had submitted his resignation as the Vice-Chairman of the Transportation Committee and paid tribute to Mr Macdonald's work in that Office since his original appointment in 1994.

"That the Director of Technical Services be authorised to invite the tenderers to submit revised tenders on the basis of modifications to the specification and thereafter, if necessary, to negotiate with the lowest tenderer. The result of the negotiations will be reported to a special meeting of the Comhairle to be held on 20 December 1999".
