It was agreed that the public, including the press, be excluded from the meeting during consideration of the following Item on the grounds that exempt information in terms of Schedule 7A of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973, as defined in Standing Order 26, would be disclosed, namely, information relating to a particular employee, former employee, or applicant to become an employee of, or a particular office-holder, or former office-holder, or applicant to become an office-holder, under the Comhairle.

Appointment of Director of Education

Details of the applications received for the post of Director of Education and the short leet of candidates selected for interview for the post, together with the job advertisement, job description and person specification were submitted and noted.

The Comhairle proceeded to interview the following candidate:

Mr Murdo Macleod.

After the interview and a full discussion of the relative merits of the candidate, it was agreed to offer the post of Director of Education to Mr Murdo Macleod on the basis of immediate acceptance of the offer.

Mr Macleod was invited into the meeting and formally offered the post of Director of Education on the basis of immediate acceptance of the offer.

Mr Macleod indicated his acceptance of the offer.
