It was agreed that, in accordance with the provisions of Schedule 7A of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973, the press and public be excluded from the meeting during consideration of the following item on the grounds defined in Standing Order 26(c), namely, that exempt information relating to a particular applicant for a service provided by the Comhairle would be disclosed. | ||
School Transport Appeal |

The Director of Education submitted an appeal for school transport received from a parent of a pupil for whom free transport had been refused on the grounds that the case fell outwith the current policy on school transport. The Sub-Committee proceeded to determine the appeal in the light of the information submitted by and on behalf of the appellant, the local member or parent, where appropriate, and the Departments of Technical Services and Education as follows: CASE AREA DECISION L61/01 Manor Park Appeal Upheld |
ADDITIONAL ITEM | ||
The Chairman ruled in terms of Standing Order 8(a) that the following item be considered as a matter of urgency in order to enable the Comhairle to notify the appellants of the decision as soon as possible before the start of the school session. | ||
Appeal for Lodgings Allowance |

With reference to item 16 of the minute of meeting of 13 September 2000 the Director of Education submitted a report concerning an application for Lodgings Allowance for a pupil who transferred from Sir E Scott Schol to the Nicolson Institute for S5 education and wished to continue in the Nicolson Institute for S6. The letter of appeal for lodgings allowance was appended to the report. It was agreed that the appeal be upheld and lodgings allowance be granted for the session 2001-2002 on the grounds of exceptional circumstances. |
