The Chairman ruled in terms of Standing Order 8 that the following item be considered as a matter of urgency in order that a decision could be given to the appellant with minimum delay. | ||
It was agreed that, in accordance with the provisions of Schedule 7A of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973, the press and public be excluded from the meeting during consideration of the following item on the grounds defined in Standing Order 26(c), namely, that exempt information relating to a particular applicant for a service provided by the Comhairle would be disclosed. | ||
School Transport Appeal E05.01.22 |

The Director of Education and Leisure Services submitted an appeal for School Transport from a parent of a pupil for whom free transport had been refused, on the grounds that the case fell outwith the current policy for school transport. |
The Sub-Committee proceeded to determine the appeal in the light of the information submitted by and on behalf of the appellant, the local member or parent, where appropriate, and the Departments of Technical Services and Education and Leisure Services as follows: | ||

Establishment of Post of Head Teacher: New Lochs Area School E06 |

The Acting Director of Education and Leisure Services submitted a report concerning a proposal to establish a post of Headteacher of the new Lochs Area School. It was indicated in the report that it was proposed that the post of Headteacher of the Lochs Area School would be established with effect from 14 August 2000. It was agreed that the post of Headteacher of the new Lochs Area School be established with effect from 14 August 2000. |
Early Retirement: Teaching Staff E06.03.07 |

The Acting Director of Education and Leisure Services submitted a report concerning a request for early retirement for Headteacher MM in the interests of the efficiency of the service. The report detailed the background to the matter and the financial implications. Appended to the report was an estimate of benefits as at 13 August 2000. It was agreed that Headteacher MM be awarded Voluntary Early Retirement in the interests of efficiency of the service on the basis of the settlement detailed in section 6 of the report by the Acting Director of Education and Leisure Services. |

The background to the matter was outlined in the report. It was agreed that employee MM be granted early release of pension on the basis of the benefits detailed in the report. |

Excellence Fund Advanced Skills Teachers E06 |

The Acting Director of Education and Leisure Services submitted a report concerning approval for giving additional remuneration to two teachers, in accordance with the Scottish Executive recommendations, under the Excellence Fund Advanced Skills Teachers Programme. It was detailed in the report that the project allowed for two experienced Gaelic Medium teachers to work with Gaelic Medium Units in a support and development role. It was agreed that a payment of £2,000 annually as an enhancement to salary to employees FM and MTM be approved. |
