It was agreed to appoint Mr Norman L Macdonald as Chairman of the Meeting.

The minute of meeting of the Cliasmol School Board of 10 January 2000 was noted.

The Director of Corporate Services submitted a report detailing the procedure to be adopted for the interviewing of Head Teachers.

It was agreed to note the Report.

TEACHING STAFF

It was agreed that, in accordance with the provisions of Schedule 7A of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973, the public, including the press, be excluded from the meeting during consideration of the following item of the grounds defined in Standing Order 26(a), namely, that exempt information relating to applicants for employment with the Comhairle would be disclosed.

Head Teacher: Cliasmol School

The report of applications received for the post of Head Teacher, Cliasmol School, the shortleet of candidates selected for interview for the post, together with the Job Advertisement, Job Description and Person Specification, was submitted and noted.

The Committee proceeded to interview the following candidates:

Mrs Margaret M Bennett

Mrs Mairi A Macdonald

After the interview and full discussion of the relative merits of the candidates, it was agreed to recommend the appointment of Mrs Margaret M Bennett to the post of Head Teacher, Cliasmol School.

Mrs Bennett was invited into the meeting and informed that the Committee would be recommending to the Director of Education and Leisure Services that she be appointed to the post of Head Teacher, Cliasmol School.

Mrs Bennett confirmed her willingness to accept the offer of appointment from the Director of Education and Leisure Services following the Committee's recommendation.
