The Minute of Meeting of 1 December 1999 was approved.

   

TEACHING STAFF

   

It was agreed that, in accordance with the provisions of Schedule 7A of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973, the Press and Public be excluded from the Meeting during consideration of the following item on the grounds defined in Standing Order 26(a), namely, that exempt information relating to a particular employee of the Comhairle would be disclosed.

Special Leave: CM, Senior Teacher

The Director of Education and Leisure Services submitted a Report concerning action taken by him in granting a period of six months unpaid leave to CM, Senior Teacher. The Report indicated that the reason for the leave was to care for an ill parent.

It was agreed to homologate the decision of the Director of Education and Leisure Services in granting six months unpaid leave to CM, Senior Teacher, in order to care for an ill parent.

   

SUPPORT SERVICES

   

It was agreed that, in accordance with the provisions of Schedule 7A of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973, the Press and Public be excluded from the Meeting during consideration of the following item on the grounds defined in Standing Order 26(c), namely, that exempt information relating to particular applicant for a service provided by the Comhairle.

School Transport Appeal

The Director of Education and Leisure Services submitted appeals for School Transport for parents of pupils for whom free transport had been refused, on the grounds that the cases fell outwith the current policy for School Transport.

The Sub-Committee proceeded to determine the appeals in the light of the information submitted by and on behalf of the appellants, the local member or parent, where appropriate and the Departments of Technical Services and Education and Leisure Services as follows:

   

CASE AREA DECISION

L28/99 Aignish Appeal not Upheld

L29/99 Coulregrein Appeal be upheld on the grounds of exceptional circumstances for School Session 1998/99 only. The case to be reviewed thereafter, if further appeal submitted.
