CONSTITUTION The Committee Services Manager chaired the meeting and called for nominations for the post of Chairman. Mr Angus Nicolson, seconded by Mr Norman A Macdonald, moved the election of Mr Donald I Nicholson. There being no further nominations, the Committee Services Manager declared that Mr Donald I Nicolson had been duly elected as Chairman of the Committee for the twelve month period to May 2001 and invited Mr Nicolson to take the Chair. |

The Chairman called for nominations for the post of Vice-Chairman. Mr Alexander A Macdonald, seconded by Mr Finlay Morrison, moved the election of Mr James L Macarthur. Mr Alasdair G Macrae, seconded by Mr Ian M Macleod, moved the election of Mr Angus Nicolson. There being no further nominations, the Committee proceeded to vote by ballot, the result of which was as follows: Mr Angus Nicolson 8 votes Mr James L Macarthur 5 votes The Chairman declared that Mr Angus Nicolson had been duly elected as Vice-Chairman of the Committee for the twelve month period to May 2001. |

Nominations to COSLA Animal Health and Consumer Networks CH02.06 |

The Acting Director of Environmental Services submitted a Report concerning an invitation from COSLA to appoint a representative to each of the Members Networks on Consumer Affairs and Trading Standards and Animal Health and Welfare. The Consumer Affairs and Trading Standards Network was being established to identify and promote the Local Government role in developing relevant proposals on the White Paper "Modern Markets: Confident Consumers" and to ensure a uniform approach to service provision and funding throughout Scotland. The Animal Health and Welfare Network was being established to provide a political steer on work which was undertaken by a COSLA/SERAD Working Group. |
It was agreed to recommend that: (1) the Chairman, or his nominee, would represent the Comhairle on COSLA's Consumer Affairs and Trading Standards Network; and (2) the Chairman, or his nominee, would represent the Comhairle on COSLA's Animal Health and Welfare Network. | ||
