ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH

Acceptance of Tenders from Bennadrove Landfill Site Extension

The Acting Director of Environmental Services submitted a Report detailing the tenders received for the construction of Phase 2 of the Bennadrove Landfill Site. As the lowest tenders received had been greater than the available budget a number of variations had been included to bring the specification within budget.

It was agreed to recommend that the Director of Corporate Services be authorised to accept the tender from John Fyfe Ltd with variations being made to the specification and cost as detailed in the appendix to the Report to bring the total cost of the works within the available budget.

Extension to Derelict Vehicle Contract

The Acting Director of Environmental Services submitted a Report concerning the Derelict Vehicle contract which was due to terminate at the end of March 1999. The current contract has operated successfully over the previous 15 months and the existing contractor was the only contractor in Lewis and Harris who had the necessary permissions to carry out such works.

It was agreed to recommend that:

(1) the Director of Corporate Services be authorised to extend the contract for the removal of derelict vehicles for Lewis and Harris currently awarded to Mr Kenneth Angus Campbell, trading as Denis Autos, for a period of not more than 12 months;

(2) the Acting Director of Environmental Services be authorised to further extend the contract where necessary, until such time as there was another suitable contractor.
