Public Entertaiments Licence: Variation of Conditions

The Director of Corporate Services submitted a Report concerning Public Entertainment Licences which were issued by the Comhairle under the Civic Government (Scotland) Act 1982. There was an island wide condition that no Public Entertaiments Licensee may operate their premises on a Sunday but there was clearly a contradiction in that the islands from Benbecula to Barra could apply for Liquor Licenses on a Sunday but could not operate in terms of Public Entertainment Licences. Recent consultations had indicated that the communities in Uist and Barra wished the restriction on Public Entertainment Licences for Sunday to be removed.

It was agreed that the restriction on the Sunday operation of Public Entertainment Licences be removed in respect of the islands of Benbecula, South Uist, Eriskay, Barra and Vatersay.
