In the absence of the Chairman and the Vice-Chairman it was agreed to appoint Mr Alexander A MacDonald as Chairman of the meeting.
As the Committee was meeting as a Short-leeting Panel it was agreed that the proceedings be not tape recorded.

It was agreed that the public, including the press, be excluded from the meeting during consideration of the following item on the grounds that exempt information as defined in paragraph 1 of Part I of Schedule 7A of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 would be disclosed, namely, information relating to a particular employee, former employee, or applicant to become an employee of, or a particular office-holder or former office-holder or applicant to become an office-holder under the Comhairle would be disclosed.

The Director of Corporate Services submitted the following papers concerning the post of Chief Executive: Job Description Person Specification Applications received
The Chairman welcomed the External Adviser, Sir Neil McIntosh, and invited him to give his assessment of candidates, against the person specification, based on the applications received. The Committee then considered the assessments received and all the application forms. It was agreed that the following candidates be short-leeted for interview by the full Comhairle at a special meeting to be held on Friday 17 June 2005 at 9.30am:
(a) M Burr; and
(b) W D Strachan.
It was further agreed that candidates would give a presentation on a set topic for up to 10 minutes and then answer questions from Councillors. |
