		MINUTES
Integrated Passenger Transport	1	The Minute of Meeting of 31 October 2001 was approved.
		BUS SERVICES
		It was agreed that in accordance with the provisions of Schedule 7 of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 the public, including the press, be excluded from the meeting during consideration of the following item on the grounds that exempt information in relation to the amount of expenditure proposed to be incurred by the Comhairle under any particular contract for the acquisition of property of the supply of goods or services would be disclosed.
Stage and School Bus Services	2	The Director of Technical Services submitted a Report in respect of the tendering exercise for School and Stage Bus Service contracts due to commence at the end of March 2002. A total of 70 contracts had been tendered including 21 contracts that were either currently being funded through the Comhairle's share of the Scottish Executive Rural Transport Fund, or were potential improvements to the network that could be funded through this source. It was agreed: (1) to approve the recommendations detailed in Appendix 1 of the Minute; (2) to approve the recommendations detailed in Appendix 2 of the Minute; (3) that the Director of Technical Services be authorised to make representations to COSLA and the Consignia Board regarding proposed changes to minimum contract fees; and (4) to approve the proposed expenditure on the Rural Transport Fund 2002/03 as detailed in the Report by the Director of Technical Services, insofar as the Sub-Committees interest was concerned.
		The Chairman indicated that he would have to leave the meeting at this point. The Principal Administrator called for nominations for Chairman for the remainder of the meeting. It was agreed to appoint Mr Finlay Morrison as Chairman of the Sub-Committee for the remainder of the meeting.
Stage and School Bus Services	3	The Sub-Committee was informed of a request from Castlebay School Board to provide school transport to take account of the early closure at Castlebay Primary School. The Sub-Committee was informed of the implications for school bus services in the Uists as a result of the completion of the Eriskay and Berneray Causeways. It was agreed that: (1) the contracts BA2 and BA3 be re-tendered on the basis of no change in the timing of the service; and (2) the Director of Education would look at the possibility of alternative closing times for schools in the Uists on a Friday and would include these as options in the tender documents for these services.
