Election of Chairman

The Principal Administrator chaired the meeting and called for nominations for Chairman of the Committee for the twelve months to May 2000.

Mr Donald Maclean, seconded by Mr Roderick J Murray, moved the election of Mr Angus M Graham.

There being no further nominations, the Principal Administrator declared that Mr Angus M Graham had been duly elected as Chairman of the Committee for the twelve months to May 2000, and invited Mr Graham to take the Chair.

Election of Vice-Chairman

The Chairman called for nominations for Vice-Chairman of the Committee for the twelve months to May 2000.

Mr Alexander A Macdonald, seconded by Mr Angus M Graham, moved the election of Mr Donald Macdonald.

There being no further nominations, the Chairman declared that Mr Donald Macdonald had been duly elected as Vice-Chairman of the Committee for the twelve months to May 2000.

Appointments to Sub-Committees

The Director of Corporate Services submitted a Report regarding the Sub-Committees of the Committee and requesting the Committee to appoint Members to the Sub-Committee, other than ex-officio Members.

It was agreed to appoint the following Members to serve on the Transportation Sub-Committee:

Mr Angus M Graham

Mr Malcolm J Graham

Mr Donald Macdonald

Mr Donald Maclean

Mr Ronald J Mackinnon

Mr Donald Manford

Membership of Working Groups

The Director of Corporate Services submitted a Report concerning the Member/Officer Working Groups of the Committee and invited the Committee to appoint Members to the Car Parking Member/Officer Working Group.

It was agreed to appoint the following Members to serve on the Car Parking Member/Officer Working Group:

Mr Angus Nicolson

Mr Alasdair G Macrae

Mr Angus Campbell

Education and Transportation Joint Sub-Committee

The Committee Services Manager reported regarding the membership of the Education and Transportation Joint Sub-Committee. He stated that the membership of the Sub-Committee comprised the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of Transportation Committee, the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Education Committee and three other Members. The Committee Services Manager reported that the Education Committee had appointed Mr Donald Maclean, Mr David Blaney and Mr Finlay Morrison to serve on the Sub-Committee and asked the Committee to indicate whether it wished to nominate further Members for determination by the Council.

It was agreed to accept the nominations of the Education Committee to the Education and Transportation and Education Joint Sub-Committee.
