The Minute of Meeting of 19 June 2000 was approved.

TAXI LICENSING

It was agreed that in accordance with provisions of Schedule 7A of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973, the public, including the press, be excluded from the Meeting during consideration of the following item on grounds defined in Standing Order 26(f) - information relating to the financial or business affairs of any particular person other than the Comhairle.

Application for renewal of Taxi Operators and Drivers Licences

The Director of Corporate Services submitted a Report concerning an application for renewal of a Taxi Drivers Licence and a Taxi Operators Licence by Mr JMM. The Report indicated that Mr JMM had failed to disclose all his convictions despite being required to do so as specified on each application form. The Report further indicated that Mr JMM had subsequently been prosecuted in the District Court for breach of Section 7(4) of the Civic Government (Scotland) 1982 and had pled guilty to the charge, receiving a fine of £150.

The representative of the Director of Corporate Services and Mr JMM were invited into the Meeting to present their cases and both parties and members of the Sub-Committee were given the opportunity to ask questions. Both parties left the Meeting during consideration of the matter.

It was agreed that Mr JMM's application for renewal of his Taxi Operator's Licence (Ref T53) and his Taxi Driver's Licence (D200) be approved.
