An Exhibition by the Lewis Young Archaeologists Club
8th January - 8th February
Over the winter the Lewis Young Archaeologists Club has been very busy studying ancient Egypt.
As the main theme of this programme, the Club have reconstructed a life-sized Mummy and a decorated Museum case. A real-life Mummy in the Hunterian Museum, Glasgow, was chosen as a model. The lady Shep-en-nor lived in Thebes in Southern Egypt around 600BC and her Mummy and beautifully decorated case were brought to Scotland in the 19th century.

They experimented with techniques as close to the original as possible and also reconstructed other objects associated with burial.

The results of their work will be on display at Museum nan Eilean in Autumn 2002 in an exhibition prepared and mounted by the children from the Young Archaeologists Club.
