Discovery on the Move

'Discovery on the Move' is a travelling exhibition from the National Museums of Scotland. It is a fun, dynamic, hands-on display, which explores how we learn about Scotland's past. It contains a fantastic range of real and replica objects to make any visit a real hands-on experience. The exhibition explores five different themes:
  • How we use evidence to learn about the past
  • Scotland's Rocks and Fossils
  • A Body of Evidence - The secrets of a prehistoric burial
  • Emigration
  • Weather a local evidence unit
  • Computer Information Point

Assistance with VisitTwo facilitators from the National Museum will be present with the exhibition to assist with visits from 1st November until 17th November.

It is hoped they will also be able to make school visits to talk about the exhibition, learning from objects and museums and the curriculum. We will only know whether such visits will be possible once we know the extent of bookings for the exhibition.

Organising a Visit The National Museums recommend that classes allow at least 1½ hours per visit. Classes should be split into three groups to work with the facilitators and teacher in using the exhibition.

The exhibition is more particularly targeted at 7-14 year olds.
