At the February meeting of the Comhairle it was decided to close S1/S2 provision at Bayble School. This amends the project brief so that the Point school at Bayble will be primary only.
At the same Comhairle series of meetings, the Comhairle agreed to further financial support for the project. This allows further progress to be made on completion of the financial model.
The SPV Board have appointed Iain Mackinnon (Director of Technical Services at the Comhairle) as Executive Director of the SPV. He takes up his new post on 3 March 2008 and will be based in SPV offices in Harbour View, Stornoway. This will also be the base for the PSDP’s Project Manager in due course.
The Design Team has been selected and it is anticipated that formal appointment will be made shortly.
A further workshop was held with the PSDP and Comhairle officers regarding facilities management issues in February. Further follow up workshops will follow in due course.
In order to carry out the Client function, progress finalisation of the brief and input to the various workshops, a new internal Education team is being formed. Their first meeting will be held in early March.
Review of accommodation schedules with the Education Consultants, head teachers and Education Department is progressing and should be completed in March.
The current Project Manager will be leaving the Comhairle at the end of March to pursue her own business interests and it is anticipated that an announcement regarding a replacement Project Manager will be made shortly.
