Comhairle nan Eilean Siar’s Convener, Alex MacDonald, has wished the Nicolson Institute the ‘very best’ for tomorrow’s Bank of Scotland Senior Shield Final at Hampden. The Nicolson team are the first Western Isles secondary side to reach a national final.
Convener MacDonald, who along with Education Chairman Norman L Macdonald, is travelling to Glasgow for the final, said; “Whatever happens now this has been a magnificent achievement by the Nicolson Institute Senior team. For a school from a small Island community to reach the final of a national competition is a superb result. I certainly wish them the very best of luck and I would urge all those in Glasgow with Island connections to get along to Hampden and cheer on the team.”
The Nicolson are taking on Johnstone High School in the final which kicks off at 7pm. 185 schools from around the country entered the competition and the Nicolson Institute beat Hillpark Secondary school 6-0 in the semi-final.
All spectators will be in the south stand at Hampden Park and should enter the ground at section P. Admission charges are Adults - £4 Children/OAPs - £2.
