The Scottish Executive has just today officially notified councils that planning fees have to go up with immediate effect. This means that any planning applications submitted with the wrong fee on or after 1 June cannot be processed until the correct fee is paid. The most common types of application are for house extensions where the fee goes up from £110 to £120, and for a new house where the fee goes up from £220 to £240. Prior Notification fees for agricultural sheds and the like go up to £46.
Anyone who wants to check what fee to submit should contact the Comhairle planning officers on 01851 709545 or, for Uist & Barra, on 01870 602425.
