TRADING STANDARDS WARNING

Comhairle nan Eilean Siar are advising consumers to be careful when buying goods and services from home.

The advice is, before you buy goods or services from home check that you have cancellation rights.

Do not enter into an agreement unless you know exactly what you are getting yourself into, for example:

• Can you afford repayments
• Can you get the goods or services cheaper elsewhere
• Do you actually need the goods or services
• Are you being pressurised into buying them

To cancel the contract you should send either the cancellation notice or a record by recorded delivery stating that you are cancelling the contract in accordance with your legal rights. You should keep a copy of the notice or letter.
