THANK YOU, PRINCE’S TRUST

8 September 2004

Recognising its twenty-one years of service to young people in the Western Isles, Comhairle nan Eilean Siar is to give a civic lunch in honour of The Prince’s Trust-Scotland on Friday September 10th It will be hosted by Mr Angus Campbell, the Vice-Convener.

The Prince’s Trust-Scotland will be represented by Major General The Hon Seymour Monro CBE, chairman of its Highlands & Islands Board, Alice Watson, Director of Fundraising in Scotland, and Bill Anderson, Area Manager for the Highlands & Islands. Members of the Trust’s local Western Isles Group will be present and local young people whom the Trust has assisted recently.

The welfare arm of a much wider “family” of trusts established by HRH Prince Charles as Duke of Rothesay, The Prince’s Trust-Scotland started operating in the Highlands and Islands in 1983, and since then, financial and other assistance to young people aged 14 to 25 in the Western Isles to a gross value approaching £100,000 has been attracted. The Trust is still extremely active in the Western Isles and continues to assist and advise young folk who may have run into difficulties, who may need financial help, or who may be leaving Care. It also offers advice and training to ex-offenders or under-achievers at school in a number of schemes and programmes both national and local. The Prince’s Trust-Scotland is a different organisation to the Prince’s Scottish Youth Business Trust, which assists young entrepreneurs to establish business ventures, but the two trusts frequently consult and collaborate.
