Employees of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar now have access to health information at the touch of a button. The electronic Health Information Project, launched recently in North Lochs and Castlebay, is to be extended to Comhairle workers who will be able to access the information through their work computers.
With the training of the Comhairle's library staff in Stornoway, members of the public are now being encouraged to make use of the easy to use health information system, available through their local library.
Touchscreen portals will shortly be available in GP Surgery waiting areas and the aim is to extend public use of the scheme to Residential homes, Youth 'Drop-in' centres, Learning Centres, Community Centres, Hospitals and Schools.
The project uses the 'In Touch With Health' system, which complements information already available from Western Isles NHS Board and is designed and updated by practising doctors and pharmacists to provide a one-stop e-service to the latest health information including medical conditions, surgical operations and procedures, taking care of yourself and preventing illness, travel health and NHS Services from check-ups and screenings to home visits.
For further information on the Health Information Project or to find your nearest access point please contact Marissa MacLennan, Project Coordinator, tel. 01851 701545.
