CREDIT UNION PUBLIC MEETINGS 18 November 2004

Next week sees the launch of a major publicity campaign by the Western Isles Credit Union Project.

A series of public meetings are being held throughout the Western Isles, starting in Barra on Monday 22 November and ending in Stornoway on Tuesday 13 December.

Chairman of the Credit Union Steering Group, Councillor Archie Campbell said, “The purpose of these meetings is to engage directly with the community in order to raise awareness of the credit union project and the positive benefits that come from membership. We would encourage everybody in the community to come along to the meetings.”

Cllr. Campbell added, “The views of the community will be essential to the future development of the project.

A new website for the project will also be launched next week to keep the community informed on how the project is progressing.

Meetings are also being held next week in Southend Community Hall on Tuesday 23 November, Liniclate School on the 24 and Carinish Hall on the 25 November, all at 7.30 p.m. A full timetable of meetings is detailed below.

 

The schedule of Community Meetings is as follows:

Monday 22nd November - Castlebay Hall, Barra, 7.30 pm
Tuesday 23rd November - Southend Community Hall, South Uist, 7.30 pm
Wednesday 24th November - Liniclate School, Benbecula, 7.30 pm
Thursday 25th November - Carinish Hall, North Uist, 7.30 pm
Wednesday 1st December - Iomairt Nis, Ness, Lewis, 7.30 pm
Thursday 2nd December - Breasclete Community Centre, Lewis, 7.30 pm
Friday 3rd December - Leverburgh Village Hall, 7.30 pm
Tuesday 7th December - Tarbert Community Centre, 7.30 pm
Monday 13th December - Caberfeidh Hotel, Stornoway, Lewis, 7.30 pm
