Recent samples taken at Loch Baravat, Hacklete, Great Bernera, have indicated the presence of blue-green algae.
As a precautionary measure, notices have been posted warning that contact with the water or algal scum should be avoided.
Adjoining landowners and fishing interests have been advised of the situation.
There is no adverse effect on water supplies.
