Comhairle nan Eilean Siar has reponded to an announcement from the pressure group Moorlands Without Turbines that they intend to send letters to every household in Lewis explaining how to object to the Lewis Wind Power planning application.
A spokesperson said: “The Comhairle has not taken a stance on the LWP application. We recognise that MWT is a pressure group that is clearly opposed to the windfarm proposal and they have a democratic right to state their case. But they should take care not to misrepresent the position of the Comhairle nor to provide misleading information. It is simply untrue that the Comhairle is not providing objective information on the proposal. The Comhairle has clearly stated that people, whether they are for or against the proposal, should make their views known. The Comhairle is making information widely available. The Comhairle has also set up a website explaining how people can make representations on the application and issued press statements which explain the process. The Comhairle is urging everyone to read all the information about the proposal and, for or against, make their views known to the Comhairle and the Scottish Executive.”
