PARKING PLEA 17 December 2004

Comhairle nan Eilean Siar is urging people to limit their parking time at South Beach in Stornoway to a maximum of two hours over the Christmas period.

Signs are being displayed from Monday morning in the area.

Chairman of the Stornoway Parking Working group, Cllr Angus McCormack, said: “The benefits of limiting traffic in the precinct area of Stornoway Town Centre for local people, visitors and businesses will become apparent and already many people are enjoying the safer and cleaner environment in which to walk and shop. In the meantime we recognise that at this busy time some people are having problems with parking and so we would make a plea to people to be considerate and limit their own parking time to a maximum of two hours”.
