Welcome For Air Fares Announcement |

Comhairle nan Eilean Siar’s Chairman of Transportation, Cllr Donald Manford, has welcomed today’s announcement by the Scottish Executive to significantly reduce air fares. Mr. Manford said: “This is another major step forward in the Comhairle’s long running campaign to strengthen the economy of the Islands by tackling the biggest economic inhibitor – the cost of travel. I recognise the difficulties faced by the Minister in trying to balance the many competing interests to find a satisfactory solution and I now look forward to hearing the details of this scheme.
