The Chairman of the Outer Hebrides Community Planning Partnership, Mr Alex MacDonald, has welcomed an announcement from Rural Development Minister Ross Finnie £2.2m for rural areas under the Rural Service Priority Areas scheme.
The announcement included £500k towards projects in the Outer Hebrides in Barra and Vatersay, Uig, Bernera, Leverburgh, Daliburgh and Eriskay.
Mr. MacDonald said: “This is a very welcome announcement for the Outer Hebrides. Rural areas are often disadvantaged in terms of service provision and these schemes will help to counter lack of access to services. They will increase social inclusion and the Community Planning partners are delighted to have supported these projects which were identified by local communities”
