A Western Isles councillor has rubbished claims that a survey showed 87% in the Kinloch area were opposed to the Beinn Mhor windfarm project.

Cllr Annie Macdonald said: “Claims that 87% of people in the Kinloch area are opposed to the windfarm scheme are complete rubbish. The so called survey which produced this result is misleading as it was was not a proper survey at all. The methodology is extremely questionable. It is an insult to the intelligence of the people of my ward and the Western Isles to try and con us with this kind of misinformation. It does the perpetrators of this no credit and I would ask that we move this onto a higher level of debate”.

Last week Comhairle nan Eilean Siar indicated its support for the proposed windfarm which will have the largest community ownership in Scotland.
