As part of Scottish Biodiversity Fortnight, from 27 May to 11 June, a programme of 13 events was organised by Comhairle nan Eilean Siar throughout the islands. This is the fourth year that such events have been offered by the Comhairle.
The events included biodiversity treasure hunts for all primary school children in Barra and a biodiversity fun day at the Loch Stiapabhat Local Nature Reserve in Ness for the four primary schools in the area.
These events are all designed to promote awareness and appreciation of the Western Isles unique biodiversity, help the public understand what biodiversity is and to encourage them to get involved.
