Comhairle nan Eilean Siar is to provide a larger bus on its public transport route serving Laxdale School. The midi-size bus is to be replaced with a larger capacity vehicle and this means that fare-paying pupils should no longer have any difficulty in using the public transport service. Legislation means that all passengers have to wear a seatbelt which prohibits standing on buses. This meant that sometimes there were not enough seats for the number of pupils wanting them. Local Councillor Neil Campbell, said: “Obviously there were concerns from parents about pupils not being able to travel on the bus and I am pleased those concerns have been listened to. I would like to thank the parents for bringing this to my attention and I would also thank the Comhairle officials and the Chairman of Transportation who have acted promptly to resolve this matter”.
