High tides combined with high winds are forecasted over the next few days and the Comhairle have made some provision to deal with the possible effects on low lying properties.

The most likely areas to be affected are Stornoway Town Centre and the Southern Isles between 18.00hrs and 20.00hrs on Friday 6 October 2006 and possibly again on Sunday 8 October 2006.

The Comhairle hold a limited stock of filled sandbags in the roads depots which can be made available to low lying properties for self help purposes.
