Company employees can now take part in sports activities at facilities in the Western Isles at a reduced rate through a corporate rates scheme introduced by Comhairle nan Eilean Siar.

 

Businesses are being invited to take up corporate memberships at sports facilities as part of a pilot scheme being run by the Comhairle.

 

Companies who buy annual memberships for their employees are entitled to 10% discount for 5-10 employees, 20% discount for 11-20 employees and 30% discount for 21 and over employees.

 

Chairman of the Comhairle’s Sustainable Development Committee, Archie Campbell, said:

“The Comhairle had received a number of requests for a corporate membership scheme and it is hoped that by offering these incentives there will be an increased use of sports facilities in the Western Isles.”

A report on the effectiveness of the pilot scheme will go to the Comhairle in March 2008.
