Comhairle nan Eilean Siar has congratulated all the Western Isles competitors who took part in the Rhodes Island Games.
The team won 6 medals, including the first ever gold for the Western Isles.
In a letter to the Team Manager, Emma MacSween, Convener Alex MacDonald said: “Congratulations on the Western Isles team performance at the Rhodes Island Games.
Your team has brought great credit to the Western Isles and the success was all the more remarkable given what were, by all accounts, formidable conditions! Winning the first ever Western Isles gold medal was fantastic news and brought great pride throughout these Islands. Indeed the medal haul was a tremendous achievement and has set a formidable target for years to come!
All the competitors deserve congratulations and I hope you will all go on to achieve great things in the future.

Vice-Convener Angus Campbell, said: “Once again the Western Isles has shown that our sportsmen and women are more than capable of performing at a very high standard. The Island games team has excelled in their various sports and they have also been magnificent ambassadors for the Western Isles. I hope that we can organise a reception for the competitors at an early stage”.
