Commenting on the Enterprise Networks Review, Comhairle nan Eilean Siar’s Chairman of Sustainable Development, Mr. Archie Campbell, said:

“The Comhairle has long argued that it made sense to transfer some of the functions previously carried out by the Enterprise network to the Local Authority, reducing duplication and increasing democratic accountability. But this needs to be backed up with transferring resources to enable the Comhairle to meet its additional responsibilities. It is also vital that the Western Isles is a focus of HIE’s economic development efforts and is not subsumed within the wider organisation”.
