Following the recent nomination process for Community Councils in the Western Isles, the following areas continue to be represented by a Community Council in their area:

Ness, Shawbost, Carloway, Breasclete, Bernera, Uig, North Lochs, Kinloch, South Harris, Point, Laxdale, Tong, Back, North Tolsta, Scalpay, Benbecula, Berneray, Lochboisdale, Bornish, Eriskay, Northbay, and Castlebay.

The term of office for the new Community Councils will commence at 11.00 am on 20 September 2007 and the Chief Executive will be writing to all Community Councillors calling inaugural meetings shortly after that date.

Insufficient nominations were received to form Community Councils in Airidhantuim, Barvas, Pairc, Sandwick, North Harris, Stornoway, North Uist and Iochdar.

An election process will be held in both Bernera, Isle of Lewis and Lochboisdale in South Uist.  The Chief Executive will be issuing postal ballots for these areas to be returned by 4.00 pm on 20 September 2007.
