The Outer Hebrides Community Planning Partnership in conjunction with Ipsos MORI Scotland are about to carry out a community survey across the Outer Hebrides. The survey asks for views on life in the Outer Hebrides and also covers issues such as transport, local services and future developments.
The questionnaire was put together using issues raised by from communities, public and voluntary agencies and the results will used to plan and develop local areas and the islands as a whole.
Questionnaires should be completed during the week commencing 10 September 2007 and placed in the box at one of the many collection points in the islands whose locations are included on page 2 of the questionnaire.
Speaking about the survey Cllr Alex Macdonald, Chairman of the Outer Hebrides Community Planning Partnership said
“Many of our communities have carried out community appraisal exercises in the past that have proved vital in the development of facilities and services. The Partnership was keen to build on this process and so we have commissioned this 2007 Community Survey to gather views on key islands-wide and local issues. If the response rate is high, we will all be able to use the results of the survey to shape the future development of our islands and local communities.”
Background
The Outer Hebrides Community Survey 2007 is the first islands wide exercise of this kind and questionnaires are being posted out to households.
The results of the survey will be published later this year.
