Comhairle nan Eilean Siar has quite clearly expressed its support for a revised Pairc Wind Farm which was discussed at length by the Comhairle last week. The report concluded that 26 of the 57 turbines would be acceptable and set out a range of draft planning conditions. Based on these conclusions, the developers will submit changes to Scottish Government in order to secure planning approval for the project.
Vice Convener of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, Angus Campbell, said –
“The Comhairle has quite clearly stated, in its submission to the Scottish Government, its support for a revised scheme. I am sick and tired of those opposed to various wind farm project proposals in Lewis distorting and disputing the democratic decisions which have been taken by the Comhairle in relation to these proposals. I hope that a speedy decision will be arrived at by the Scottish Government in relation to the wind farm proposals so that the Western Isles can look forward to reaping the benefits of renewable energy in the years ahead to revitalise our economy and our communities”.
