Responding to an announcement from the Scottish Government that the Air Discount Scheme is to be continued, pending confirmation from the European Commission, Cllr Donald Manford, Comhairle nan Eilean Siar’s Chairman of Transportation, said:

“This is good news for the Western Isles. The Comhairle has lobbied to have the air discount scheme continued and this is welcome progress towards securing an extension to the scheme. The ADS has undoubtedly been of great value for areas such as the Western Isles and I look forward to formal agreement from the European Commission that the scheme will be extended for a further three years.”
